The Edinburgh-based international collective, return with their second full-length album, ALL ART IS SHALLOW AND MEANINGLESS, released 23rd October 2026 through Savage Recordings.

Following their debut LP, Like Stink on a Monkey (2011), the new album pushes the Savage Sound System sound into considerably darker territory. Built from synthesizers, drum machines, electric guitar, bass and found sounds, ALL ART IS SHALLOW AND MEANINGLESS creates an unstable, atmospheric landscape somewhere between trip-hop, glitch, lo-fi electronics, experimental hip-hop and post-punk.

The album's subject matter is equally uncompromising. Across its tracks, Savage Sound System explore loss, isolation, disconnection and survival in the digital age; combining fractured beats and strange textures with lyrics and vocals that inhabit the uneasy space between human connection and technological overload.

This is electronic music with a human pulse; beats and machines colliding with live instrumentation, unconventional textures and a cast of international collaborators from Scotland, Ireland and Canada. Featured vocalists include Scottish MCs Werd and Blasfima Sinna, Irish singer P. Duffy, Dark-Electronica vocalist Sacre Noir, and Canadian singer D.Soul the Soulsamurai.

Macon Heights - When We Fall Single Release 19/06/2026

The duo are excited to release their fourth single ‘When We Fall’ recorded and mixed at Chamber Studios (Edinbugh) with producer Niall Sinclair, mastered by Lucius Lowe.  

Built around themes of emotional cycles, suppression, and repetition, ‘When We Fall’ explores the tension between confronting difficult truths and burying them beneath surface-level reassurance. The track’s recurring refrain, “When we fall it’s over and over, never is never enough” mirrors the looping patterns of thoughts and behaviours that define strained relationships and internal conflicts.  

The accompanying music video draws direct inspiration from the Khalid Abdalla play Nowhere, particularly its use of photography and fragmented memories to construct narrative. Blurring the line between past and present. Through a collage of photographs, from child-hood to present-day and featuring live performance shots and studio moments, the video builds a layered visual memoryscape. Snippets of text drawn from the lyrics appear as fleeting “word-images”, echoing the way thoughts surface and dissolve. Abstract photography further disrupts any linear storyline, reinforcing the song’s themes of repetition and emotional disorientation.

Upcoming show from Macon Heights - live at The St James Quarter as part of the St James Quarter Sessions 2025 on Sunday the 17th August 2025. The duo will be performing at the Yellow Stage on Level 3 (hosted by The List) and supporting The Laurettes. Doors are 3.30pm with Macon Heights performing at 4pm (Laurettes at 4.45pm). Tickets are free from the St James Quarter app.

Chrysta Bell, Twin Peaks actress and longtime musical partner of David Lynch, is currently on an extensive European headlining tour. She recently sold out New York’s legendary cabaret spot, Café Carlyle. Earlier this fall, she released a new track titled “Undertow” via AWAL/Kobalt Music Recordings. The track was co-written by Chrysta Bell and Christopher Smart and produced, recorded and mixed by Alex Silva (Manic Street Preachers, Suede, Nelly Furtado).

She received widespread critical acclaim in the role of FBI Agent Tamara Preston in 2017’s return of Twin Peaks on SHOWTIME. This summer she released her sophomore album, We Dissolve, a pop record with elements of soul, rock and jazz, featuring contributions from guest artists including Adrian Utley (Portishead), keyboardist Geoff Downes (Asia, Yes) and drone metal guitarist Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O))). The album was recorded in Bristol, UK, with Mercury Prize-winning producer John Parish (PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake).

Chrysta Bell will release a new EP in spring 2018.
